Mahindra has plenty of models lined up for launch in the coming few months. This includes the facelifted XUV700. This will be the first major update to the mid-size SUV ever since it made its debut in August 2021. Test mules of the updated XUV700 have been spotted on a few occasions in the recent past.
Another test mule of the XUV700 was caught on camera and this time the spy images reveal some new details about the SUV. The latest spy shots give a sneak peek of the vehicle’s interiors which seems to undergo significant changes over the current model. We also notice some subtle yet noticeable changes on the exterior as well.
Mahindra XUV700 facelift: Expected exterior changes
As seen in the previous spy images, the overall shape and size of the XUV700 will remain unaltered but the facelifted model will receive some key updates such as a revised LED headlamp cluster with new LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The circular headlights will give way to more rectangular units. The grille also sees a significant revision in design as we see more slats incorporated. The lower lip of the bumper also sees a sleeker air dam vent. The rest of the design seems very familiar to the current model.
Mahindra XUV700 facelift: Expected interior changes
More than its exterior, the interior of the XUV700 is expected to see more updates. For instance, the latest spy images reveal a triple screen layout similar to the one seen in Mahindra XEV 9e. This also means much more advanced features on offer in the upcoming iteration of the XUV700. The spy images also point at an auto-dimming internal rear view mirror which was a glaring miss in the current XUV700.
On a closer glance, we see the branding of Harmon Kardon on one of the speakers suggesting Mahindra upgrading to the more advanced 16-speaker audio system seen in the XEV 9e from the current Sony unit. Another noticeable update is the steering wheel which is likely to get an illuminated Mahindra Twin Peaks logo although the control buttons will possibly remain the same.
Mahindra XUV700 facelift: Expected powertrain options
The updated XUV700 is unlikely to see any mechanical revisions. It will continue to be offered with the same powertrains—a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel. Both engines will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. The top-spec diesel automatic variant will also retain the option of an all-wheel-drive system.
