Mahindra & Mahindra are gearing up to take a massive step forward by introducing a brand new platform on August 15. The Indian SUV manufacturer has sent a block-your-date invitation on the 78th Independence Day of India, and the company recently confirmed at the Q4 FY25 earnings that the new versatile platform could house petrol, diesel, electric and even hybrid vehicles. That’s right. The company, along with Tata Motors, has been championing the EV cause, but not keeping its options open.

New Flexible Architecture: What is it?

According to Autocar India, the new architecture by Mahindra is called New Flexible Architecture (NFA), which is a monocoque platform. Based on the NFA, the Indian SUV manufacturer is going to churn out several new SUVs. The versatile architecture will be showcased on August 15 and will house multiple powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, EV  and hybrid. The new platform will be manufactured at Mahindra’s Chakan facility.

The report further says Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors, clarified, “This is a platform vision, not a product launch. It marks the introduction of a new platform and the concepts and products that will emerge from it.”

Mahindra’s upcoming plan

It has been a hectic period for Mahindra since it launched the second-generation Thar in 2020, the XUV7OO in 2021, 2022 the Scorpio N and then a string of new products in 2024 — the 3XO, Thar Roxx, BE 6 and XEV 9e. Mahindra has confirmed that the company will introduce seven ICE vehicles and five electric vehicles by 2030.

In 2025, Mahindra will be launching the updated Scorpio N with Level 2 ADAS and panoramic sunroof, facelifted three-door Thar, a new Bolero and the XUV3XO EV.

Currently, Mahindra offers three models under Rs 10 lakh, starting from XUV3XO, Bolero and Bolero Neo and Bolero Neo Plus. The ICE range premium includes the Thar, Thar Roxx, Scorpio Classic, Scorpio N and XUV700. The SUV manufacturer has three EV models — the XUV4OO, BE 6 and XEV 9e.
