Mahindra has announced the brand name of its newest SUV, the 5-door Thar, will be called the Mahindra ‘Thar Roxx’. The Mahindra Thar Roxx has been spied testing on several occasions and the speculated name was also doing the rounds saying it will be called the Armada, a name previously used by Mahindra.
Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Sector, Mahindra, said, “The ‘Thar Roxx’ with its distinctive design, premium quotient, advanced technology, enhanced performance, sophistication, and safety is ‘THE’ SUV. While retaining the core attributes of the iconic Thar the ‘Thar Roxx’ represents the larger-than-life personality of a rockstar and will disrupt the
SUV category.”
The three-door version of the Thar has been on sale for a long time and even saw a major update. The Thar Roxx will be based on the same platform, while also carrying a similar design, but with slight changes. Inside, the new Mahindra Roxx will carry several modern features such as a digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, along with ADAS Level 2.
Powering the new Mahindra Thar Roxx will be the 2.2-litre diesel engine and the 2.0-litre petrol engine that currently powers the 3-door Thar. The Roxx will be available in RWD and 4WD options while it will retain the manual and automatic gearbox options.
