There’s good news for those looking to buy the Mahindra Scorpio-N with an automatic gearbox. Mahindra is now offering an automatic gearbox option with the Z4 trim which is slotted just above the base Z2 trim. This has effectively made the Scorpio N with an automatic transmission more affordable.
Previously, the Z4 trim was only available with a 6-speed manual gearbox. With the latest update, the Scorpio-N Z4 trim can be had with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox too, both in petrol and diesel variants. The Z4 petrol automatic is priced Rs 17.39 lakh whereas the Z4 diesel automatic is priced at Rs 17.86 lakh (both ex-showroom).
Prior to this update, the automatic variants of the Scorpio-N began with the Z6 diesel priced at Rs 18.91 lakh and the Z8 Select petrol at Rs 19.06 lakh (both ex-showroom). In comparison, the new Scorpio Z4 AT models are more affordable by Rs 1.05 lakh and Rs 1.67 lakh, respectively.
Mahindra Scorpio-N: Features & Powertrain specs
Despite being at the lower end of Scorpio-N, the Z4 trim covers all essential amenities and more. These include an 8-inch touchscreen, wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted controls, second-row AC vents, halogen headlights, LED turn indicators, 17-inch wheels with plastic covers, a rear spoiler, power windows, and fabric upholstery. Safety is taken care of by dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold and descent controls, ISOFIX child seat anchorages and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers.
Mahindra Scorpio-N Z4 is offered with two engine options: a 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The former kicks out 200 bhp and 380 Nm of peak torque. The diesel mill is de=tuned to produce 130 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. Mahindra also offers the optional 4×4 drivetrain with the oil burners in the Z4(E) variant. This Z4(E) diesel variant is tuned to produce 173 bhp and 370 Nm of peak torque.
