Mahindra & Mahindra continues its strong momentum, emerging as one of the few major automakers to post growth in June 2025. The company also secured the second-highest sales position in May, just behind Maruti Suzuki. In a conversation with CNBC TV18, Mahindra revealed it is considering a price hike across its entire vehicle lineup.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, said the company is closely observing inflation trends and market dynamics. He emphasised that any decision on revising prices will be made only after carefully assessing the broader economic landscape and rising input costs.
SUV momentum propels Mahindra
While major companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors registered a dip in sales in June, Mahindra registered a growth of 18% year-on-year. The Indian SUV manufacturer sold 47,306 units in June 2025 as compared to 40,022 units last year.
According to Gollagunta, Mahindra delivered a robust performance in June 2025 due to four key launches in 2024 — the XUV 3XO, the Thar Roxx, and the born electric duo, the XEV 9e and BE 6. These models further complement best-sellers like Scorpio, XUV700, and Bolero, boosting sales. Mahindra expects 15–20% growth in FY26, leveraging its varied SUV range and growing EV lineup.
On rare earth shortage
Mahindra & Mahindra is tackling supply chain challenges head-on, confirming a robust inventory of rare earth materials essential for its electric vehicle (EV) production. “We’ve thoroughly analysed affected components and are proactively de-risking our supply chain,” stated Gollagunta.
The company is actively exploring alternative suppliers and components to ensure long-term stability, mitigating risks posed by global rare earth shortages, particularly due to China’s export restrictions. He further said Mahindra is producing and selling 4,000 units monthly of its top-of-the-line variant, Pack 3, for XEV 9e and BE 6. The company plans to introduce affordable Pack 1 and Pack 2 variants before the festive season. The company maintains a 5,000-unit monthly operational capacity.
Mahindra has recently announced that it will showcase its brand-new platform that will ‘anchor’ several new generation SUVs, including electric and internal combustion engines.
