BMW X4 went off the shelves earlier this year but the coupe SUV has made a return to the Indian market in grand manner. The German marque has launched a sportier M40i variant of the X4 at a price of Rs 96.20 lakh (ex-showroom. The luxury coupe SUV will be available in India as Completely Built Unit (CBU).
It will be available in limited numbers, although BMW hasn’t specified a specific number and can be exclusively booked at the BMW Online Shop. Compared to its predecessor, the new X4 comes with a refreshed exterior look and updated interiors.
BMW X4 M40i: Updated Exteriors
In its refreshed avatar, the X4 M40i gets a blacked-out kidney grille with an M logo flanked by sleek LED headlights housing twin L-shaped LED DRLs. Further, the splitters and wide air dam have been adorned with gloss black treatment, lending it a more aggressive appeal. The Bavarian automaker has retained the side profile featuring the signature couple roofline giving the car a sporty stance.
However, it wears new shoes in the form of new dual-tone 20-inch alloys with red brake callipers adding a nice touch of sporty contrast. The rear end remains same as the standard X4 with a ducktail spoiler in the boot lid and wraparound LED taillamps. Piano black finishes on the ORVMs, side skirts, window sills, rear reflectors, and twin-tip exhausts accentuate the coupe SUV’s premium appeal.
BMW X4 M40i: Revised interiors & features
Interiors of the cabin wear a dual-tone theme with the same dashboard layout as the standard X4 housing a twin-screen setup including a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Both displays are embedded with BMW Virtual Assistant, and Gesture control.
Other notable features on offer include 3-zone automatic climate control, reclining rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, parking assistance, and a reverse parking camera. Safety package includes features like six airbags, cornering brake control, dynamic stability control, and ISOFIX child seat mounting.
BMW X4 M40i: Powertrain specs
Powering the X4 M40i is a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that puts out 355 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox. As for performance, the M40i takes only 4.9 seconds to breach the 100 kmph mark from a standstill. The coupe SUV can clock a top speed of 250 kmph.
Further, the engine is now coupled with a 48v mild-hybrid tech that offers better driving performance with lower fuel consumption. In addition, there are four drive modes to choose from– EcoPro, Comfort, Sport, and Sport+.
