Force Motors has been working on a 5-door version of the Gurkha for a very long time. Test mules of the 5-door Gurkha have been spied on numerous occasions over the past couple of years. However, its launch was only confirmed recently when we received a media ride event for later this month.
The Pune-based automaker has once again teased the upcoming 4×4 SUV on its social media handles ahead of its launch. The teaser post also confirms that besides the all-new 5-door version, Force will also update the existing 3-door version of Gurkha. Upon launch, the 5-door Gurkha will take on the likes of Maruti Jimny and the upcoming 5-door Mahindra Thar.
5-door Force Gurkha: Exterior highlights
Like the previous teaser, the latest images of the 5-door Gurkha reveal the silhouette of the lifestyle vehicle. As expected, like its 3-door sibling, the 5-door Force Gurkha will flaunt a boxy profile with tall, upright pillars to go with a flat roofline. The teaser also reveals a large greenhouse area segregated into three window panels on each side.
One difference noticed between the latest teaser and previous spy images is the lack of squarish headlights. In the teaser, it is clearly shown that Force uses signature round LED headlamps with integrated circular LED DRLs as seen in the 3-door Gurkha. The teaser further confirms the vertical LED taillamp clusters at the rear.
Further, the 5-door version is likely to come equipped with 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels as opposed to the 16-inch wheels seen on the 3-door Gurkha. Front and rear bumpers might also be revised. This is besides the fact that the 5-door Gurkha will be significantly longer than its 3-door sibling. Visual highlights such as a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, a roof-mounted luggage rack, jerry cans, and a snorkel enhance the appeal of a lifestyle adventure vehicle. Although, some of these elements could be offered only as accessories.
5-door Force Gurkha: Expected powertrain
Under the hood, the Gurkha 5-door is expected to employ the same 2.6-liter, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, generating 90 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. It is paired exclusively with a five-speed gearbox. Power is sent to all four wheels via a low-range transfer case. Off-roading capabilities are enhanced by mechanical locking differentials.
