Hyundai finally launched the much anticipated facelift to the second-gen Creta yesterday. With prices starting at Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Creta manages to justify its premium price tag thanks to several updates over the outgoing model and the brand value of Creta in the Indian market.
Creta competes against a plethora of other compact mid-size SUVs including Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Citroen C3 Aircross, Honda Elevate and its own cousin Kia Seltos. Let us check how the new Creta fares against its closest as far as prices are concerned.

Kia Seltos
Starting with the new Kia Seltos, the new Hyundai Creta is priced around a similar ballpark as its Korean counterpart. Launched in July 2023, the facelifted Seltos is priced between Rs 10.90 lakh and Rs 20.30 lakh (both ex-showroom). It gets almost the exact same specs and features as the new 2024 Creta but a completely different top hat. Powertrain options include a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, 1.5-litre NA petrol motor, and a 1.5-litre diesel mill.
Maruti Grand Vitara
Maruti Suzuki offers the Grand Vitara in this space which is priced between Rs 10.70 lakh and Rs 19.83 lakh (both ex-showroom). Thus, it is slightly more affordable than Creta. It is also one of the few models in this space to offer a strong hybrid and an AWD system in this segment.
Toyota Hyryder
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder carries the exact same specs as the Grand Vitara. However, the former is priced at a slight premium over the latter, starting at Rs 11.19 lakh and going up to Rs 20.14 lakh (both ex-showroom). This makes it slightly more expensive than the new Creta.
Honda Elevate
Honda launched the Elevate a few months back at a starting price of Rs 11.58 lakh which is one of the starting prices at Rs 11.58 lakh. Interestingly, it also offers one of the most affordable top-spec variants at Rs 16.20 lakh, due to less powertrain options. It only offers a 1.5-litre NA i-Vtec petrol engine that can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox.
Volkswagen Taigun
Volkswagen Taigun is the most expensive SUV in this space, priced at Rs 11.70 to 21.10 lakh (ex-showroom), offering the most premium base as well as flagship variants. It can be had in two turbo petrol engine options— a 1.0-litre TSI unit and a 1.5-litre TSI unit.
Skoda Kushaq
Like Taigun, Skoda Kushaq is also a very expensive SUV in this space, both being underpinned by VW Group’s MQB A0 IN architecture. Both SUVs carry the same specs and features, and hence are closely priced to each other— Rs 11.89 to 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
MG Astor
MG Astor recently updated the Astor range by introducing a new entry-level variant priced at Rs 9.98 lakh, the most affordable in the compact mid-size SUV segment. The top-spec variant of Astor is priced at Rs 1790 lakh (both ex-showroom), making it one of the most value for money models in this space considering the amount of features and powertrain options this SUV offers.
Citroen C3 Aircross
Citroen launched the C3 Aircross in September last year, and is by far the most affordable SUV in this space overall. It is priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 12.75 lakh (both ex-showroom). However, the C3 Aircross lacks many features in comparison to its rivals. It also lacks the option of an automatic gearbox which will be addressed by the French carmaker by the end of this month.
