TVS Apache RR 310 has perhaps been the most awaited motorcycle this year and now, the wait is finally coming to an end on 6 December. The production model of the Akula 310, which was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Apache RR 310 will be the homegrown brand’s flagship product. The new fully faired motorcycle by TVS will share its engine with BMW Motorrad’s naked streetfighter, the G310 R. However, the engine will be tuned to deliver better fuel efficiency. The TVS Apache RR 310 has been co-developed by TVS Motor and BMW Motorrad and has been tested extensively over time. In the month of July this year, TVS announced that the company would invest Rs 500 crore in its operations, which launching motorcycles including ones with bigger engines and higher power. Every year, the average spend of the company was between Rs 300 crore and Rs 400 crore as capital expenditure (CAPEX), which was earlier Rs 250 crore. This year, however, the company has confirmed that it will invest Rs 500 crore for in order to increase production capacity.

TVS Motor seems to be getting a stronger hold on the market and in terms of products too, there is certainly an upward trend in the brand’s performance – starting with its entry in the sports motorcycle segment with the new Apache RR 310. Following are the five top things to know about the upcoming motorcycle:

A) The Apache RR 310S shares its engine with the upcoming BMW G310R and both motorcycles will be powered by a 313 cc, single cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine develops 34 hp of maximum power and 28 Nm of peak torque and is paired with a six-speed gearbox. The engine is expected to deliver an ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 36 kmpl.

B) The salient features of the TVS Apache RR 310S include twin projector headlamps, full digital instrumentation with several race-inspired bits, LED tail lamp and turn indicators and upside down forks up front.

C) The production-ready version of the TVS Apache RR 310 has been spied several times, and after a prolonged wait and speculating its launch, the motorcycle is now confirmed to launch on 6 December this year.

D) One of the biggest plus points for the new TVS Apache RR 310 will be the price. It is expected to be priced very competitively at about Rs 1.8 lakh, which would give the competition a run for their money. This will be the most affordable 300cc sports motorcycle in India.

E) When launched, TVS Apache RR 310 will go up against others in the segment, such as KTM RC 390 and Benelli 302R. It would also compete with Yamaha YZF-R3, however, the R3 is so far missing from the Indian two-wheeler market.
