Increase in electric two-wheeler demands has translated to higher registration at Vahaan in FY25.

The electric two-wheeler market in India has been growing steadily over, especially since the post-Covid years. Although penetration of electric two-wheelers remain around 6-7 per cent of the total two-wheelers, increase in options and improvement in charging infrastructure will boost the sales of battery-powered models in the future.

According to Vahan, 1,30,274 electric two-wheelers were registered in March 2025. In the entire FY25, a total of 11.40 lakh units were sold, a 21 per cent increase from the previous fiscal of 9.48 lakh units. Let us look at the top five two-wheeler brands that registered the highest volume in March this year.

Bajaj Auto (34,863 units)

Bajaj became the highest-selling electric two-wheeler manufacturer for the second consecutive month in March. The Chakan-based two-wheeler brand recorded 34,863 registrations in Vahan last month, its highest-ever volume till date. Bajaj currently sells two variants of the Chetak, priced between Rs 1.30 lakh — 1.42 lakh (ex-showroom).

TVS (30,453 units)

TVS is the second largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India. The Hosur-based company recorded registrations of 30,453 iQube scooters last month across the country. For entire FY2025, TVS Motor Co has clocked total retails of 2,37,551 units, a growth of 30 per cent YoY, as compared to 1,83,189 units registered in FY24. TVS sells five variants of the iQube priced between Rs 1.17 lakh and 1.75 lakh (ex-showroom).

Ola Electric (23,430 units)

Ola Electric sales have dipped in the last three months, but the Bengaluru-based EV startup remains the overall leader in the electric two-wheeler space. with 3,44,004 e-scooters and e-motorcycles sold between April 2024 and March 2025. During the same period , Ola Electric recorded a growth of 4 per cent as compared to 3,29,947 units sold in the previous fiscal. In March 2025, Ola registered a volume of 23,430 units which gave the company an 18 percent market share.

Ather Energy (15,446 units)

Ather Energy sold 15,446 electric scooters in March 2025, securing a 12 per cent market share and ranking fourth in the segment. For FY25, the company recorded total retail sales of 1,30,913 units, marking a 20 per cent YoY growth with an increase of 21,752 units over the previous fiscal year. Despite this growth, its market share stood at 11.40 per cent, slightly lower than 11.50 per cent in FY2024, when it had sold 1,09,161 units. March 2025 sales also represent Ather’s second-best monthly performance, following the 16,233 units sold in October 2024.

Hero MotoCorp/Vida (7,977 units)

Hero MotoCorp sold 7,977 units of Vida electric scooters in March 2025, its highest-ever monthly sales volume till date.A total of 48,668 units were sold in the FY2025, resulting in a solid jump of 175 per cent over the previous fiscal which witnessed a volume of 17,720 units. This exceptional growth is attributed to expansion of the Vida footprint across the country in the last few months.
