In a developing economy like India, two wheelers account for the majority of sales in the entire automotive industry. A total of 11,41,891 units were accumulated for the ten highest-selling two-wheelers in the country last month resulting in a 3.53% YoY growth. Let us look at the top 10 two-wheeler models sold in the month of May this year across the country.

Top 10 two-wheelers May 2024: Splendor, Activa dominate

Hero Splendor continues to spread out its dominance in the Indian two-wheeler market even after three decades since it was first introduced. Offered in the 100cc Splendor and 125cc Splendor Plus guise, Hero sold a total of 3,04,663 units of the commuter motorcycle in India which led to a 11 percent YoY decline.

Honda Activa continued to be the highest-selling scooter in the country with 2,16,352 units sold in May 2024. This translates to a 6.39% YoY growth. Like Splendor, Activa is also available in two guises– 110cc and 125cc.

Top 10 two-wheelers May 2024: Shine registers highest growth

Honda Shine recorded the highest YoY growth of 43% among the top 10 best-selling two-wheelers in May 2024. The Japanese auto giant dispatched 1,49,054 units of Shine last month across the country. Again, Shine is offered in two engine displacements– 100cc and 125cc.

The fourth spot was taken by the Bajaj Pulsar range with 1,28,480 units sold in India last month. Sales remained stagnant in comparison to May last year. The Chakan-based manufacturer sells a dozen models under the Pulsar range, most of them receiving crucial updates in the last few months. Hero sold 87,143 units of HF Deluxe in India in May this year, which led to a 20% YoY decline.

Top 10 two-wheelers May 2024: Jupiter, Access record decent numbers

TVS Jupiter became the second best-selling scooter in India in May this year with 75,838 units sold across India last month. This led to a significant 31% YoY growth over May 2023. Suzuki Access was the best-selling Suzuki and the third-best two-wheeler scooter in May this year. 64,812 units of Access were dispatched across the country last month which translates to a 41% YoY growth

TVS XL recorded a monthly sales volume of 40,394 units. The moped recorded a YoY growth of 12.72% growth. TVS Apache saw a decline of 9.65%, with sales dropping to 37,906 units of Pulsar sold across the country last month.
