Triumph is really upping its game in the 400cc segment. Having started with the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X, the next bike on the list will be the Scrambler 400 XC, a more off-road-focused version of the Scrambler. However, Triumph is not stopping there, there is another one on the way — the Street Scrambler 400. The motorcycle was seen testing in Europe recently, and the details look interesting.
New Triumph Street Scrambler 400 — How will it be placed?
One look at the motorcycle and you know it is from the Triumph 400 family. But what you also notice is that it looks more off-roady than the Speed 400, but is more road-friendly compared to the Scrambler 400 X. This hints at the bike sitting between the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X in Triumph’s lineup.
The motorcycle gets a few distinct design touches but retains the same fuel tank, headlight, and handlebar from the existing Triumph motorcycles. It also features USD forks, a monoshock for the rear, alloy wheels, and disc brakes at both ends that get dual-channel ABS. It is expected to come with the same electronic nannies seen in the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X.
Power will also be derived from the same engine — a 398cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled unit that makes 40 bhp and 37Nm of torque. The engine will be paired to a six-speed gearbox and the motorcycle is expected to be launched late this year or early next year.
