The new KTM 390 Adventure series has been a hot topic for a while now, and with multiple models – 390 Adventure S, 390 Adventure X, 390 Adventure R, 390 Enduro R, and 390 SMC R – KTM now has a range of motorcycles to tackle any terrain. That said, two models will be launched in India tomorrow, the 390 Adventure S and the Enduro R. If you have been waiting to lay your hands on either of them, here’s how the new KTM 390 Adventure S differs from the 390 Enduro R.
KTM 390 ADV vs Enduro R: Design
The two motorcycles are based on the same platform and are underpinned by a steel trellis frame, however, they boast significant differences in design. The KTM 390 Adventure S gets typical adventure styling with a tall, vertical fairing, knuckle guards, the unmistakable DLR setup, a high-mounted fender, and a wide handlebar.
The 390 Enduro R gets minimal bodywork compared to the 390 Adventure S. The motorcycle features a bikini fairing with an integrated headlight, a flat seat, a flat handlebar, a high-mounted front fender, and that’s pretty much it.
KTM 390 ADV vs Enduro R: Hardware and features
The KTM 390 Adventure S is suspended by adjustable USD forks at the front, a monoshock at the rear, 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, wire-spoke wheels, disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS, and a TFT instrument cluster. On the electronics front, the 390 Adventure S gets lean-sensitive ABS, traction control, ABS modes, ride modes, and more.
The 390 Enduro R gets a similar suspension setup, however, it rides on a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel. The Enduro R might not get the comprehensive electronics package as the Adventure S, but it does get a TFT dash with phone connectivity, dual-channel ABS and a dedicated switch to turn off the ABS. The switchgear on both motorcycles is different and so is the instrument console.
KTM 390 ADV vs Enduro R: Engine specifications
On the powertrain front, both motorcycles will be powered by the same engine — the potent 399cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that does its duty on the 390 Duke. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and a quickshifter will be on offer, but no clarity if it will be standard equipment.
