The scooter segment saw no big changes in the last few years, apart from them becoming electric. The biggest fun factor the scooter segment has seen in recent years was the launch of the Yamaha Aerox 155. This catered to a small crowd of enthusiasts and now, Hero has entered the same segment with the Xoom 160. While we have seen how the Xoom 160 compares against the Aerox 155, there are a few things to know about the Hero also. Here are five things to know about the new Hero Xoom 160.

Hero Xoom 160: Design

The Xoom 160 gets all the right angles, sizes, and dimesions right for a Maxi scooter. The large front apron with the split headlight design, large seat, and an upswept exhaust give the Xoom 160 a muscular and sporty look. The colour schemes available with the Xoom 160 add to the overall design of the scooter, making it a head-turner for sure.

In terms of equipment, the new Hero Xoom 160 gets telescopic front suspension, dual rear shocks, disc brakes at both ends, 14-inch wheels wrapped in chunky 120-section front and 140-section rear tyres, and a disc brake up front with ABS and a drum brake at the rear. The Xoom 160 gets a 7-litre fuel capacity and tips the scale at 142kg.

In terms of features, the new Hero Xoom 160 gets a digital speedometer with Bluetooth connectivity, LED lighting, a smart key function, and the i3S silent start technology. The scooter also has a remote seat opening facility, but Hero has not mentioned the boot space available under the seat.

Hero Xoom 160: Engine specifications

The Hero Xoom 160 is powered by a 156cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The engine makes 14.5bhp and 14Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a dry centrifugal clutch with a CVT gearbox. This makes the Xoom the only other scooter in India to be offered with a liquid-cooled engine in the segment after the Yamaha Aerox.

Hero Xoom 160: Competition

Speaking of competition, the closest competitor to the Xoom 160 is the Yamaha Aerox 155, which also gets a single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine mated to a CVT gearbox. The Aerox 155 makes similar power — 14.7bhp and 14Nm of torque. The Aprilia SXR 160 is also a competitor but gets an 11bhp air-cooled engine.
