Hero MotoCorp is the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world in terms of volume produced and a major share of it is contributed by scooters. Needless to say, Hero offers one of the widest range of scooters in the country, Destini 125 being of its highest selling modes. A few weeks back, it was reported that Hero is working on a facelifted Destini.
An image of the updated Destini 125 was leaked on a media portal which hinted at styling updates on the scooter. The same can now be confirmed with a leaked patent image of the 125cc scooter. Hero has filed a patent application for the design of the updated Destini. The patent image suggests comprehensive design changes.
Hero Destini 125 facelift: Updated design
For starters, the facelifted Destini appears to wear completely new body panels. As seen in a previously leaked image of the Destini, Hero has removed the triangular headlights in the upcoming and has replaced it with a sleeker-looking set. The new Destini also sports a new set of alloy wheels, a metal exhaust heat cover and a new LED headlight.
The patent image highlights the side and rear profile of the scooter which also undergoes significant overhaul. The side panels are now cleaner and understated, unlike the current model which gets sharp creases. Further, Hero added a small cubby hole in the left-hand side improving practicality. The footboard remains flat as usual.
The rear gets a completely reprofiled split tail light assembly comprising sleeker LED units for the brake lamp and turn indicators. The patent as well as the leaked image reveal the use of a backrest for the pillion. Other changes include new rear mud guard, new exhaust muffler, and an external fuel filler cap.
Hero Destini 125 facelift: Specs & features
The new Destini 125 is expected to be better equipped than the current model with features such as LED headlight, LEd turn indicators, a fully-digital instrument panel, USB charging port, and boot lamp. The top-spec Xtec trim is also expected to come with Bluetooth connectivity and may be turn-by-turn navigation. Other features such as a front disc brake and i3S stop/start system will be carried forward from the current mode.
The Destini 125 will most likely be powered by the same 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine as the current model that produces 9 bhp at 7,000rpm and a peak torque of 10.4 Nm at 5,500rpm. This motor will be paired with a CVT automatic. It will rival other 125cc scooters like Suzuki Access, Yamaha Fascino, Honda Activa 125, and TVS Jupiter 125.
