Bajaj working on Hero Xtreme 125R, TVS Raider rival — Pulsar N125 incoming?

Besides a 125cc Pulsar, Bajaj is also working on the world’s first CNG motorcycle powered by a 1255 motor which will launch next month.

Bajaj is currently in process of revamping the entire Pulsar range of motorcycles with recent launches such as the updated N250 and the all-new NS400Z. Besides the top-end of the spectrum, Bajaj is also working on updating the bottom-end of the Pulsar range. Case in point being a new 125cc Pulsar.

For reference, Bajaj already manufactures and retails two 125cc Pulsar bikes— the older classic Pulsar 125 and the sportier Pulsar NS125. The Chakan-based bikemaker is now looking to add a third 125cc Pulsar, probably the N125. Test mules of the same have been caught in the camera earlier as well.

Bajaj Pulsar N125: Styling

A new test mule of the supposed Pulsar N125 has been spied yet again in a completely camouflaged avatar. The latest spy shots suggest a sporty styling in sync with all the new-gen Pulsars. The headlamp, though, is slightly different with a multi-reflector LED setup being used instead of a projector LED unit. The muscular fuel tank with the extended shrouds give it a beefy appearance.

The frame and the box-type swingarm suggest it will be based on the Pulsar N150 platform. Other visual highlights include a split-seat setup, a tyre hugger, a raised tail section, a single-piece pillion grab rail, and twin LED taillights. Speaking of the seat, the images show the rider seated in an upright riding position although the footpegs are slightly rearset.

Bajaj Pulsar N125: Expected features & equipment

Given that Bajaj wants to position it as a premium 125cc offering, we expect the Pulsar N125 to be decently equipped with features such as a digital instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity, call and text alerts, and a USB charger. However, to keep the cost in check turn-by-turn navigation via Bajaj Ride Connect app.

As for hardware, underpinning the new 125cc Pulsar will be a diamond frame which is suspended by telescopic front fork and preload-adjustable rear monoshock. Braking duties will be carried out by front disc brake and a rear drum brake. Don’t be surprised if Bajaj decided to skip on a single-channel ABS to keep the price in check. Instead a combi braking system will be offered.

Bajaj Pulsar N125: Expected engine specs

We expect Bajaj to develop a new 125cc engine for the Pulsar N125. As of now, Pulsar NS125 is powered by a 124.45cc single-cylinder engine, making 11.8 bhp and a torque of 11 Nm. On the other hand, the old Pulsar 125 gets a 124.4cc, single-cylinder engine that churns out 11.64 bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 10.80 Nm at 6,500rpm.
