Bajaj Auto had launched the V15 motorcycle in February, 2016 at Rs 62,132, ex-showroom, Delhi and buoyed by its success, the company will extend the V range in India. Next up, the company will launch the new 125cc variant of the V15, christened as the V12 and price it at around Rs 56,000, ex-showroom. The motorcycle is expected to be launched officially sometime in early December, 2016.
The new V12, similar to the V15, will feature metal from the Indian Navy’s first aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, that served the nation for decades. Bajaj Auto had made it clear at the time of the V15’s launch that there is no more metal left from the decommissioned ship and that the company already has enough stock of it to keep producing motorcycles in enough numbers to make commercial sense.

The new Bajaj V12 will be powered by a DTS-i 125c engine that produces around 10 hp of power at 8,000 rpm and about 11 Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. The engine is mated to the same five-speed gearbox seen on other commuter motorcycles from the company. Other than this, the company has not made any changes to the motorcycle, except for the seat cowl’s design. The styling of the V12 is similar to the V12 and looks like a sportier café racer.
The Bajaj V12 competes with the likes of the Honda Shine, Hero Glamour and TVS Phoenix. The new V12 will be available across the company’s dealerships from December, 2016 and will be followed by more motorcycles in the ‘V’ range over an undisclosed period of time.
