Days after launching the updated 1290 Super Adventure range, KTM has launched the 790 Adventure in North America, which gets updates for 2024, which include electronics and minor mechanical upgrades compared to the older version.
To start with, there are no design changes on the 790 Adventure, however, mechanically, the motorcycle gets an updated airbox, which lets the motorcycle breathe better and perform better. The next major update includes the ‘Demo’ mode, which allows customers to get a free trial of the entire electronics package and choose what they want at the end of the trial period. Other electronics include cornering ABS, traction control, ride modes, and more.
Mechanically, the motorcycle uses the same engine, a 799cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that makes 93bhp and 87Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox with an optional bi-directional quickshifter. The motorcycle gets a slip-and-assist clutch as standard.
In terms of hardware, the KTM 790 Adventure gets non-adjustable WP Apex USD forks in the front and a preload adjustable rear monoshock. The suspension offers 200mm of travel as it is not the Adventure R version. Other bits include a TFT dash, disc brakes on both ends with dual-channel ABS, LED lighting, and spoke wheels.
In terms of KTM launching the 790 Adventure in India, there have been many speculations, however, there has been no confirmation from KTM. Multiple motorcycles have been spotted in India, including an 890 Adventure R outside the KTM factory, however, most of these have been private imports. Should KTM launch the 790 Adventure in India, or bring in the more capable 890 Adventure range? Do let us know.
