India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has just showcased yet another teaser image of its new concept car that will break covers at the Auto Expo 2018, Maruti Suzuki Concept Future S will reveal the new look of company’s next compact SUV and the design of the future Maruti Suzuki cars.
The Future S concept to be unveiled on February 7, 2018 at the Auto Expo 2018 is designed completely in-house by Maruti Suzuki designers in India with the help of its Japanese counterpart and is an attempt by the market leader to bring SUV styling cars on hatchbacks. Compact Future S marks a big shift in the way compact cars are designed in India. The company further says that the Future S concept is the next level of “design evolution” in terms of design proportions, body sculpting and stimulating fusion of bold patterns and superior accent colours has been achieved through the ConceptFuture S.”

Maruti Suzuki will showcase only the concept at the Auto Expo 2018 and the production version is expected to debut in 2019 followed by a market launch. This new SUV will sit below Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and is likely to challenge the likes of Mahindra KUV 100. The company will hope for a similar success on this vehicle as it has got with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. It is believed that the Future S will be about 200 mm shorted than the Vitara Brezza and will get SUV stance. The SUV space in India has been posting double digit growth, and this will mark more growth for Maruti Suzuki in the UV space.

After the debut at Auto Expo 2018, the production version of the Future S concept will be built on the Suzuki’s Heartect platform on which the new 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift is built on. It will be powered by the K-Series 1.2L petrol engine and expect the platform to support electrification too. Maruti Suzuki is also working on a new 1.5L diesel engine that might debut with the production version of Future S.

Along with this concept SUV, Maruti Suzuki stall at the Auto Expo 2018 is expected to showcase 18 vehicles on display including the Suzuki e-Survivor SUV concept, next generation Suzuki Hybrid system and will also launch the new 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift.
