Fiat Abarth Punto was launched this week priced at Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car looks dark and shiny and is a sure-shot head-turner, especially with the scorpion logo standing out. Abarth logos are strikingly visible at the front and the rear of the car. And that goes for its on-road performance too. Check out what the car is all about in 5 points:
-
1. In India, Fiat Abarth Punto has done a first – it is the first sub-Rs 10 lakh hatchback in the country that breaks the 10-second barrier to a ton. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles claims the Abarth Punto goes from 0-100 kmph in 8.8 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 190 kmph.

2. Fiat Abarth Punto is powered by a 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 145 bhp—highest in the segment — and a torque of 212Nm. It gets a five-speed manual transmission. The company has also planted the Fiat Abarth Punto engine in its crossover car, the Avventura. However, because the Avventura is a heavier car, it goes from 0-100 kmph in a slightly slower 9.9 seconds.

3. The Fiat Abarth Punto looks very different from the regular Punto, both outside and inside. One, the ground clearance, at 155 mm, has been lowered to aid ride and handling. (CarDekho)

4. The Fiat Abarth Punto is available in only two colours — Hip-hop Black and Pearl White with red highlights and racing embellishments. Fiat Abarth Punto seats are black in colour with a red and yellow stitching that is in line with the Abarth colours and logo, even the steering wheel holds the Abarth logo. (CarDekho)

5. Fiat Abarth Punto features large 16-inch alloy wheels which are designed like a scorpion. This uniquely positioned hatchback comes with some luxury features, too, such as electric boot opening, automatic air-conditioning, soft touch front dashboard, ambient light, rear AC vents, foldable keys and follow-me home headlamps.
