Bengaluru always has a way of amusing newcomers — from its pub culture to its traffic. The latter was exactly what caught 15 German pilots who were in the city for the 2025 Aero India show, who ended up missing the inaugural ceremony because they were … well, caught in traffic. The unfortunate incident happened on February 10, when the Aero show kicked off.

The infamous Bengaluru traffic

The pilots, according to reports, arrived in Bengaluru aboard an A330 passenger plane and stayed 17km away from Yelahanka, where the Aero Show is taking place. For the 15 gentlemen, the commute took three hours. This resulted in them missing the inaugural performance, which included aircraft performances and an address from Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

“The traffic flow was smooth till we reached the venue, but at the entry point we were just stuck for almost one-and-a-half hours,” said one of the pilots. However, as per reports, the Germans missed the arrangements that were made. The Bengaluru traffic police had created an alternate lane for delegates, which the pilots missed.

Many motorists who use the road for their daily commutes have complained about the traffic on the route owing to the 2025 Aero India show, some even taking to social media to complain. The traffic on the road is set to ease out in a couple of days once the show is over, and the general public travelling to the airport have been given an advisory to spare plenty of time to reach the airport owing to traffic and the air show.
