After what Autosport reported earlier that India will not be on the 2025 MotoGP calendar, it has now been confirmed that MotoGP will return to India in 2026. MotoGP right holder Dorna has confirmed that the 2025 season was skipped owing to “operational circumstances” and it will return in early 2026.

MotoGP India: Official statement

The official statement read:

“Operational circumstances have obliged the event to be delayed from its initial slot near the start of the 2025 calendar. With no available dates towards the end of the season, MotoGP will therefore return to India in the early stages of 2026. Both MotoGP and Invest UP are working hard to bring MotoGP back to Buddh International Circuit with a world-class event, and are committed to confirming India as a destination for global sporting events.”

The organisers have not issued a statement yet and amidst the confusion earlier this year, Fairstreet Sports had claimed that news reports were rumours and that MotoGP would return. However, 2024 was dropped and Invest UP took over the event and now, the race has been delayed again. According to reports, 2025 was dropped from the calendar owing to financial constraints.
