Tata Motors, curbing the growing anticipation revolving around its new sports car, took the wraps off the Tamo Racemo during the Geneva Motor Show. The Racemo is a mid-engined two-seater coupe. It is a part of Tata Motors' performance sub-brand Tamo. Also, production version of the Racemo will be available in India by early 2018. Following are some facts about India's home grown sports car.
-
The Racemo is genuinely a quick car. Tamo claims it will accelerate to 100 kmph in six seconds, which is quite an impressive figure. It is powered by a 1.2 litre turbocharged Revotron petrol aluminium engine that develops 186 hp and 210 Nm of torque.
-
It has scissor doors, and there's no better way of saying this, that it is one of coolest things to see on a car. Overall, the car looks like it means business. It comes with a small engine. A 1.2 litre unit isn't exaclty supercarish, but the brand has worked hard to keep the weight low and sculpt the design to provide more down-force.
-
There will be two versions available – a standard road going Racemo and Racemo+, which will be more track friendly. It will be built based on AMP (Advanced Modular Platform), that uses a mix of carbon-fibre and aluminium for the body. The Futuro is likely to be sold through a separate chain of retailers.
-
The Racemo's chassis construction was developed by Marcello Gandini, the famed Italian car designer behind cars like the Lamborghini Miura and Countach, often considered one of the most iconic cars in the world.

Tamo Racemo is featured on the gaming series Forza. It is the first Indian car ever to be included in Microsoft’s Forza Horizon 3.
