KTM 390 Duke has stomped its authority as a capable streetfighter that is easy on pocket in India. So much so that it is difficult to find a plausible rival to pit against it at its price point. The 390 Duke also shows potential for customisation and not like it is heavy to begin with, Colt Wrangler Lyons' rendition is even lighter – and it can go off road. Colt changed his hobby of hacking motorcycles into a business in 2015 and by the looks of this custom job on a new KTM 390 Duke, we're thankful that he did.

This custom build is the result of a 1970s Honda scrambler Colt customised in the past. The custom-built 390 Duke's client really liked it and wanted a motorcycle with inverted forks and a monoshock rear suspension, and under 500cc. Hence, the 390 Duke was picked for the job.

A lot of bike builders prefer the 390 Duke for their work for it is lightweight with its trellis frame, has punchy performance, and is not very expensive. Colt bought a brand new 390 Duke for this job. “It felt a little weird tearing down a brand new bike,” he told Pipeburn.

The 390 Duke features an 8-inch screen for an instrument cluster and Colt felt it was a little out of place on a builder bike. So, he encased it in and hide it in the new tank he had planned.
-
“I started with an old Yamaha RD400 gas tank,” he says, “which I outfitted it with the standard KTM fuel pump and ignition switch”. He mounted the screen in the tank itself and covered it with a clear plastic.

In terms of powertrain, the 390 Duke had its airbox and emissions regulation equipment stripped and instead a K&N filter and a crankcase breather were fitted. For the exhaust, COlt went for a stainless steel slip on.
