Maruti Suzuki XL6 has been launched today in India. The premium derivative of the Ertiga MPV is available in two trim levels namely Zeta and Alpha. Prices of the XL6 fall in-between the range of Rs 9.79 lakh to Rs 11.46 lakh (ex-showroom). Unlike the Ertiga, the XL6 will exclusively retail through the carmaker's Nexa dealership outlets, joining the ranks of Ciaz, S-Cross, Ignis, Baleno and Ciaz. One of the major points of differentiation between the XL6 and the Ertiga is that the former comes with captain seats in the middle row, making it a six-seater as opposed to the latter's seven-seater layout.

Maruti Suzuki has worked extensively on making sure that the XL6 and the Ertiga have different visual identities. Up-front, the XL6 comes with completely revised styling. It bears all-new headlamps which gets a quad-LED set-up, an all-new grille, a completely redesigned bumper along with faux skid plates.

Similarly, the premium MPV comes with plastic cladding all-around, a new set of blacked-out alloy wheels and at the back, LED tail-lamps, redesigned bumper along with a faux-skid plate. The rear and the side fascia is where the XL6 resembles the Ertiga the most in terms of its exterior design.

The cabin of the XL6 is exactly the same as that of the Ertiga. The only major difference is that the former comes with an all-black colour scheme. In addition to this, the faux wood insert on the dashboard is also of a darker colour and is highlighted by a silver accent.

In terms of features, the XL6's Alpha and Zeta trims correspond to the ZXI+ and ZXi trims of the Ertiga. As a result of this, it comes with creature comforts such as automatic climate control, steering mounted audio controls, a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, height-adjustable driver's seat, electrically adjustable ORVMs to name a few. In addition to these, the XL6 offers LED headlamps, leather upholstery, automatic headlamps with follow me home feature among others.

Dimensionally, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 measures 4,445 mm in length, 1,775 mm in width and 1,700 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,740 mm. The XL6 has a boot capacity of 209-litres with all the three rows up. With the third row folded down, the boot capacity increases to 550-litres.

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 comes is available with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, BS-6 compliant petrol engine. This is the same engine which is currently available on the Ertiga as well as the Ciaz. This engine is capable of churning out 105 hp of power along with 138 Nm of peak torque. The Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual gearbox. In addition to this, there will be a 4-speed torque converter unit available as well.

Talking about safety, the XL6 comes with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert system along with driver and passenger seat belt warning as standard. The automatic variants are going to offer electronic stability control with hill-hold function.
