After launching the more affordable Ather 450S, the company is gearing up to launch a long-range version of the scooter, called the 450S HR. The details surfaced over a homologation document filed by Ather Energy.
The Ather 450S was the EV maker’s answer to the reduction in FAME II subsidies, which features a smaller 2.9kWh battery pack with a range of 90km and a top speed of 90kmph. Ather has saved costs on various features with the 450S, such as replacing the TFT dash with an LCD unit and introducing a new joystick to control various features amongst others.
With the new 450S HR, Ather is expected to offer the larger 3.7kWh battery pack, thus increasing the range, but retaining the cost-saving features such as the LCD dash. The larger battery pack offers a range of 156km as per the homologation document.
With the launch of the new Ather 450S HR, the company’s lineup will include the 450S, 450S HR, 450X (2.9kWh), and 450X (3.7kWh) variants. The updated 450X (3.7kWh) is scheduled to launch in October this year with the new switchgear introduced with the 450S and could also see a marginal price hike.
