Tesla attacks continue, and for a country as large as the US, these instances have become more of a nuisance. However, taking into the nature of these crimes which have involved gunfire, arson, and acts of vandalism, the FBI has launched a specialised task force to deal with the situation. As per Fox News, the FBI will treat these incidences as “acts of domestic terrorism”.
FBI task force to investigate Tesla attacks
The task force will include agents from the Counterterrorism Division and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), with support from the Justice Department. The team says that they are now operational and have embedded themselves in locations where the attacks took place. Officials say that these attacks qualify under domestic terrorism because they appear ideologically motivated.
Speaking to Fox News, FBI spokesman Ben Williamson said, “As always, Director Patel and Deputy Director Bongino have been adamant about responsiveness to agents on the ground and providing them the resources they need to serve Americans. This Task Force is just the latest move in coordinating our efforts to ensure those who violently attack Tesla will be pursued and brought to justice.”Â
Tesla attacks
The FBI has been tasked to investigate 48 Tesla-related attacks that have involved arson and shootings. To add to the intensity, these 48 attacks happened in March alone. While there are a number of investigations currently going on, there is a protest called “Tesla Takedown” scheduled for March 29.
There have been several attacks in recent times that include gunfire at dealerships, vehicles being set on fire, and other acts of vandalism, especially after Musk took an important role in Trump’s administration, looking after the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has lead to several job losses.
