Another feather in JSW MG Motor’s smart cap as Comet and ZS become one of the most affordable EVs in the market, not including the rental charges.

JSW MG Motor has declared that the Comet EV and the ZS EV can be acquired through the ‘Battery-as-a-Service’ (BaaS) Program. The benefit of this scheme is that the MG Comet EV is priced starting at Rs 4.99 lakh with an additional battery rental of Rs 2.5 per km, and the MG ZS EV starts at Rs 13.99 lakh plus a battery rental of Rs 4.5 per km.

Decoding the BaaS Plan

JSW MG Motor recently unveiled the BaaS plan alongside the launch of the Windsor EV. This program, now also available for the Comet and the ZS, enables customers to purchase the two-door vehicle and the SUV at starting prices of Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 13.99 lakh respectively, excluding the battery.

This may sound peculiar to many, but it’s a good deal for the customer as they only pay for the additional battery rental when the vehicles are driven. Apart from this smart pay-per-kilometre scheme, JSW MG Motor has also said that customers can also avail the assured 60 per cent buyback value after three years of ownership, reassuring customers of a seamless and confident ownership experience.

The Battery as a Service (BaaS) program is backed by financial partners such as Bajaj Finserv, Hero Fincorp, Vidyut, and Ecofy Autovert. JSW MG Motor states that this strategic partnership guarantees a smooth experience for customers nationwide, facilitating an easier shift to electric mobility.

Throwing light on the ownership program, Satinder Singh Bajwa, Chief Commercial Officer, JSW MG Motor India, said, “With BaaS, we have created a platform for easy ownership, making our EVs more accessible than ever. Given the strong response to Windsor under the BaaS program, we are now extending its benefits to our popular EV models, the Comet and ZS. I am confident that this unique ownership model will further boost EV adoption in the country.”
