Ather Energy, one of India’s leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers, has officially announced a price hike across its entire electric scooter lineup starting January 1, 2026. The company confirmed that prices will increase by up to Rs 3,000, citing rising input costs and evolving supply chain pressures.

The hike will affect all variants of the popular Ather 450 series, including the flagship 450X and the more affordable 450S, as well as the newly launched family-oriented Ather Rizta.

Why is Ather hiking the prices of its scooters?

In a statement, Ather noted that the price adjustment is a result of a steady increase in the cost of raw materials and logistics. The EV industry in India has been navigating a complex landscape of shifting subsidies and increasing commodity prices over the past year. While Ather has absorbed these costs for several months, the company stated that a marginal upward revision is now necessary to maintain its premium build quality and service standards.

To cushion the blow for prospective customers, Ather has coupled the price hike announcement with an “End of Year” push. Consumers who complete their purchase and registration before December 31, 2025, can avoid the Rs 3,000 increase.

Additionally, Ather is currently offering several year-end benefits, including:

Exchange bonuses: Incentives for switching from old petrol-powered two-wheelers.

Extended warranties: Special packages for early adopters of the 450 and Rizta series.

Charging infrastructure perks: Discounts on home charging installations.

Is Ather the only one?

Ather is not alone in this move. Several other two-wheeler giants, both in the EV and internal combustion engine (ICE) segments, are expected to announce similar price revisions as they enter the new calendar year. However, Ather continues to see strong demand, particularly for the Rizta, which marked the company’s entry into the practical, multi-passenger scooter market earlier this year.

The company recently reached a milestone of over 200,000 units on Indian roads and is currently expanding its manufacturing capacity at its second plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, to meet growing national and international interest.
