Kia will unveil an updated version of Carens on May 8 and the Korean carmaker has now revealed the name of the vehicle. The upcoming MPV has been named Clavis and Kia has shared a short teaser video of the same on its YouTube channel. We had previously reported that Kia will add an update of Carens to its lineup but won’t discontinue the existing model.

The new MPV will sit on top of Carens in the Kia India lineup as a more premium alternative and a different design. The latest clip confirms that the new Clavis will be visually very different from the Carens. The Clavis will be inclined with Kia’s new design philosophy which is seen in the new range of Kia vehicles such as Carnival, EV9 and Syros.

Kia Clavis: Design

The front fascia of the Clavis looks very distinct with the new LED headlamp setup featuring a three-pod arrangement with a triangular housing. The headlights flank a redesigned front grille along with a reprofiled front profile. The silhouette along with the side profile looks unchanged barring new alloy wheel designs maybe. Previous spy images have suggested a change in taillamp setup as well.

The new Kia Clavis is poised for a significant interior upgrade, featuring additions such as a panoramic sunroof, dual TFT screens—one dedicated to the infotainment system and the other serving as a digital instrument cluster—a touch-sensitive climate control panel, ventilated seats, and Level 2 ADAS capabilities. These enhancements are also expected to be included in the forthcoming fully-electric version of Clavis, which will share the same platform but sport subtle exterior design changes to set it apart from the ICE variant.

Kia Clavis: Expected Powertrain
