The Tata Punch is set to get a facelift in 2026, and ahead of its launch, a test mule has been spotted in Kerala. The test unit, which was heavily camouflaged, gave a glimpse of everything that Tata Motors is changing in its top-selling vehicle. The 2026 Punch will join Tata’s new facelifted lineup of cars, such as the Tiago, Tigor, Nexon, Harrier, and Safari.
The upcoming 2026 Tata Punch facelift has been caught undergoing testing in the hills of Munnar, Kerala, with the latest spy photos revealing a major overhaul to both its exterior design and interior features. The ‘micro-SUV,’ which has been a strong seller for Tata Motors, is expected to borrow elements largely from its electric sibling – the Punch EV.
2026 Tata Punch: New exterior design for SUV styling
The test mule’s exterior design cues show an alignment with Tata’s larger and more recently launched SUVs, such as the Nexon and Harrier. The silhouette of the Punch remains unchanged from the outgoing version, but the facelift introduces sharper, more aggressive styling. Tata hasn’t borrowed any elements from he new Sierra.
– The front fascia retains the signature split-headlamp layout from Punch but features revised DRL (Daytime Running Light) elements and a refreshed grille, giving it an assertive stance like the updated Nexon.
– The main LED headlamps are now neatly integrated into the bumper’s lower half.
– While the rear design remains mostly hidden, minor tweaks to the lighting cluster and bumper are expected to complete the mid-cycle refresh, creating a more refined and modern look. You can expect an updated LED taillight cluster, with the possibility of Tata offering a connected taillamp design similar to Altroz and Nexon.
2026 Tata Punch: Cabin and tech upgrades
The most striking changes are visible inside the cabin, where Tata Motors wants the Punch to deliver a more premium and technologically advanced experience.
– The central dashboard will feature a noticeably larger touchscreen display, likely the latest infotainment unit from Tata Motors.
– The cabin features the carmaker’s new two-spoke steering wheel, already introduced on newer models like the Nexon, adding to the premium feel.
– The test mule confirms the inclusion of a fully digital instrument cluster, although it could be limited to the lower-spec models. You can expect a full-colour display for the top-end variants.
In addition to these visible changes, market speculation suggests the presence of comfort and safety features such as ventilated seats, a blind spot monitor, and a 360-degree camera system.
2026 Tata Punch engine options
In terms of performance, the 2026 Punch facelift is expected to retain its existing powertrain options without major mechanical changes. Hence, it is likely to continue to be powered by the 1.2-litre petrol engine, available with both a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The popular CNG variant, which utilizes Tata’s Twin Cylinder Technology to liberate more boot space, is also confirmed to return, with the spotted test mule believed to be the CNG version.
