It seems Skoda is very attached to the Onyx nameplate. Remember the Rapid Onyx edition launched before the mid-size sedan got discontinued. A few months ago, Skoda launched the Onyx edition of Kushaq in India although it came with a manual transmission option only.
The Czech carmaker has now announced the launch of an automatic transmission variant of the Onyx edition of Kushaq. Priced at Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kushaq Onyx continues to be positioned between Active and Ambition trims.
Skoda Kushaq Onyx: What’s new?
Although the design is identical to the rest of the lineup, the Kushaq Onyx edition benefits from additional elements to give it a distinctive identity. At the exterior, it gets the same LED headlight setup with LED DRLs and cornering fog lamps as the higher-spec Ambition trim. However, unlike the Ambition trim, the Onyx edition rolls on 16-inch steel wheels. Further enhancing exclusivity is the Onyx badge on the B pillar.
One can also opt for specific exterior body decals. The cabin greets with door sills embossed with Onyx badging metalling plates. Similarly, Onyx branding can also be found on the floor mats and cushions. Another key addition to the Onyx edition is a touch panel for the automatic climate control unit which the lower variants miss out on. Other features on offer include paddle shifters, hill hold control, and a rear wiper with a defogger, features that are reserved for higher-spec Ambition trim.
Skoda Kushaq Onyx: Engine specs
The Kushaq Onyx is exclusively available with a 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that makes 114 bhp and 178 Nm of peak torque. With the latest update is available with a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
