Nissan has released the first teaser image of the production-ready Nissan Kicks Compact SUV, which is all set to make its public debut at the inaugural event of the Rio 2016 Olympics and Paralympic Games. To be an official car of the Olympic Games, the Kicks will escort torch relay convoy through 300 Brazilian cities for the next three months.
South America will be the first market to receive the crossover where it is scheduled to launch towards the end of this year. The same model might also come to India in future. The Kicks crossover will be produced at Nissan’s Resende Industrial Complex in Rio de Janerio State. The production-ready model will be based on Kicks concepts that broke cover in 2014 at Sao Paulo Auto Show. Led by Global Design Center Nissan in Japan, the crossover’s concept was designed with joint efforts of Nissan Design America (NDA) and Nissan Design America (NDA-R).

For the Brazilian market, the Nissan Kicks could be offered with a 1.6-litre flex-fuel (petrol/ethanol) engine. Whereas the India-bound model could come with a choice of two engines – a 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. The Nissan Kicks crossover could share its platform with the Micra and Sunny. It will be a sub-4 meter vehicle. The production version of the car might show up with the sporty bumpers, high ground clearance and SUV-ish stance.
