Mercedes-Benz has added a new AMG Line variant to the GLE lineup in India. Priced at Rs 97.85 lakh (ex-showroom), the new GLE 300d 4Matic becomes the third and the most affordable AMG Line variant in the country after GLE 450d and GLE 450. In the process, the German marque discontinued the regular GLE 300d from the lineup.
The new GLE 350d AMG Line is Rs 1.20 lakh more expensive than the standard 350d. For the additional amount, the new GLE 300d AMG Line gets cosmetic upgrades both on the outside and inside over the outgoing model.
Mercedes-Benz GLE 300d 4Matic AMG Line: What’s new?
The GLE 300d 4Matic AautoMG Line benefits from exterior embellishments such as 20-inch 5-spoke AMG alloy wheels finished in tremolite grey. In addition, it gets larger, perforated brake pads at the front wheels. Establishing its AMG Line credentials is an AMG front apron with chrome trim strip running across the centre of the diamond grille with Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star pattern.
Similarly, at the rear bumper it gets a diffuser element with twin exhaust tips laced with chrome. Other visual highlights include sportier air inlets at the front bumper, gloss black ORVMs, and colour-coded front and rear side skirts. Rest of the SUV is practically the same as the model it replaces.
Mercedes-Benz GLE 300d 4Matic AMG Line: Features & specs
Mercedes has kitted the GLE 300d 4Matic AMG Line with features such as 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display running on the second-gen MBUX system, electrically adjustable front and rear seats, memory function for front seats, a 4-zone climate control, a heads-up display, a 360-degree camera, and a 590-watt 13-speaker Burmester sound system.
In terms of safety, the GE 300d 4Matic AMG Line gets nine airbags, traction control, park assist, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) like blind spot monitoring and autonomous emergency braking.
Powering the GLE 300d 4Matic AMG Line is a 2.0-litre, turbo-diesel engine that churns out 265 bhp and 550 Nm of peak torque. This powertrain is paired with a 9-speed Steptronic automatic transmission which is linked to a 48V mild-hybrid setup with integrated starter-generator (ISG), adding an additional 20 bhp and 200 Nm to the total output.
As for performance, the diesel GLE can sprint to 100 kmph from a standstill in 6.9 seconds before hitting a top speed of 230 kmph. Mercedes-Benz GLE competes against the likes of BMW X5, Audi Q7, Lexus RX and Volvo XC90.
