Mercedes-Benz has launched its fourth electric vehicle in the Indian market, the EQA 250+. The compact SUV is the company’s best-selling BEV in the global market and costs Rs 66 lakh in India. The EQA is also the most affordable EV in its portfolio in India. Mercedes-Benz has opened the bookings for the EQA. It joins the EQS, EQB and the EQE lineup.
Mercedes-Benz EQA 250+: Design and Interiors
Based on the GLA, the EQA retains the design of the compact SUV though it comes with a couple of new additional updates. Being an EV, the front grille is replaced by an enclosed black panel with metal brushed three-pointed star emblems. It sports new 19-inch AMG alloy wheels and has connected LED tail lamps. The EQA is available in seven colour options — Mountain Grey Magno, Patagonia Red, Spectral Blue, Polar White, High-tech Silver, Cosmos Black and Mountain Grey.
The EQA’s upholstery is made up of Artico man-made leather and fabric made of recycled PET bottles. The dashboard panel is a star pattern which was an option of 64 ambient lights. The iconic turbine-shaped air condition vents are rose gold in colour. The EQA has a powerful 12-speaker 710 W Burmester with Dolby Atmos and a head-up display that reads out navigation directions, speed, speed limit and cruise control. The cabin gets a twin 10.25-inch display, seven airbags, including for the driver’s knee, and a couple of ADAS features.
Mercedes-Benz EQA 250+: Power and Range
The EQA 250+ is a front-wheel-drive vehicle with a single motor mounted on the front axle. It has a 70.5 kWh battery pack and has an output of 188 bhp and 385 Nm. According to Mercedes-Benz, it offers a range of 497 km to 560 km (WLTP). It accelerates from 0-100 km in 8.6 seconds and has a top speed of 160 kmph.
In terms of charging, the EQA can be juiced up from 10 to 80 per cent in 35 minutes with the help of a 100 kW DC charger, which Mercedes-Benz claims should be around 400 km range. The standard 10 kW AC charger takes 7 hours and 15 minutes to fully charge the battery.
