Mercedes Benz has launched the all-new EQE electric SUV in India at a whopping price tag of Rs 1.39 crore (ex-showroom). The German marque is offering only the top-spec EQE 500 4Matic+, and yet to introduce a more powerful AMG-spec EQE in India. EQE is the third all-electric offering from Mercedes after the EQB SUV and the EQS sedan.
The electric SUV is brought to India as a fully imported model under the CBU route, resulting in an exorbitant price tag. Mercedes is offering a segment-best 10-year warranty in battery, and a service interval of once in 2 years for added convenience.
Mercedes Benz EQE electric SUV: Design
An all-electric derivative of the GLE, the EQE 500 derives styling influences from its fossil-fueled sibling. For instance, the EQE gets similar exterior highlights such as a crossover-like low-set roofline, rectangular LED headlamps, flared wheel arches, and diamond-cut alloy wheels. The only major difference is a sealed-off front grille with a gloss black panel.
Other visual highlights include an LED light bar connecting the two headlamp clusters. The rear end is dominated by wraparound LED tail lights that sit flush with the bodywork. The electric SUV rolls on 20-inch diamond cut alloy wheels with the option of upgrading to 21-inch units.
Mercedes Benz EQE electric SUV: Interiors & features
The biggest highlights inside the EQE’s cabin is the brand’s 56-inch Hyperscreen unit as standard which runs on the latest version of the MBUX system. The centre console is draped in brown open-pore magnolia wood. The turbine-style air-con vents are now places at the extreme ends of the dashboard.
Other notable features offered include a Burmester 3D Surround Sound with 15 speakers, HEPA Filter, Air Balance Package, head up display, AIRMATIC suspension, ADAS Level 2, front massage seats, etc. The level 2 ADAS comprises safety features such as active lane keep assist, active brake assist, active steering assist, blind spot monitor and emergency stop assist.

Powering the fully-loaded EQE 500+ 4MATIC, are newly developed permanently excited synchronous motors– one on each axle– that dish out a combined peak output of 300 kW (408 bhp) and torque of 858 Nm. The motors derive energy from a 90.6 kWh battery pack which offers a claimed WLTP range of 550 km on a single charge.
As for performance, the EQE 500 can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds, while it can clock a top speed of 210 kmph. Mercedes is offering a 11kW wallbox charger standard with the option 60kW and 180kW DC fast chargers. The company is currently operating over 140 charging stations across India.
