Set to rival Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300, Tata Nexon and other sub-4 metre SUVs, the Vitara Brezza will be launched in India soon after the Auto Expo. Upon its launch, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will be made available in a total of 6 variants across three trim levels. All the variants will come powered by the 1.3-litre DDiS 200 engine which also powers the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross and Ciaz. This engine belts out a maximum power output of 89bhp and a peak torque of 200Nm. Only the diesel version of the Brezza will be brought to India initially, though a petrol-variant too is under development that will be rolled out later. The petrol-engined model will also be exported to several markets from India. Auto Expo 2016 Live: Click here for updates The Maruti Vitara Brezza is the company’s first product that is conceptualised, designed and developed completely by the Indian research & development team under the guidance of CV Raman, executive director – engineering, Maruti Suzuki India. The company said that the Indian R&D team took no validation from Suzuki’s global team and developed the prouct in about three and half years. The Vitara Brezza will also be exported to several markets in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Middle East. Coming to design, the Maruti Vitara Brezza takes its inspiration from two concepts – Maruti XA Alpha and Suzuki iV-4. The car features projector head-lamps with LED daytime running strip, radiator grille with vertical slats, outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs) with integrated turn indicators, blackened A & B pillars, plastic cladding around the body, and a chrome horizontal strip with Brezza written on it. Features like high shoulder line, short overhangs, high ground clearance, square wheel arches and prominent lines on side give it an pseduo SUV look.
