Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday made its debut in the compact utility vehicle segment with the launch of the new vehicle Vitara Brezza which will hit the domestic market with a diesel engine.
The research and development of the utility vehicle was done at the Gurgaon facility of Maruti and has a localisation level of 98%.
With the launch of the Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki is now present across all critical segments of the passenger vehicle market. The compact utility vehicle will be pitted against products like the Hyundai Creta, Mahindra TUV 300, Nissan Terrano and Renault Duster.
The vehicle comes at a price of R6.99 lakh for the base variant while the top one will be available at R9.68 lakh (ex showroom Delhi).
Vitara Brezza delivers a fuel efficiency of 24.3 km per litre and Maruti claims that it is highest in utility vehicle category and 10-20% superior to existing models in the segment. Vitara Brezza will also have the DDiS 200 engine.
Bookings for the vehicle started from Tuesday.
