Earlier last year, Maruti Suzuki silently discontinued the mild-hybrid version of Brezza with the manual gearbox when the stringent BS6 phase 2 emission norms kicked in April last year. The company has had a change of heart by bringing back the mild-hybrid iteration of Brezza with a manual gearbox.
Maruti Brezza mild-hybrid fuel efficiency
Limited to the higher-spec ZXi and ZXi+ variants only, prices for the manual automatic Brezza with a mild hybrid setup starts at Rs 11.15 lakh and go up to Rs 12.48 lakh (both ex-showroom). This has resulted in an increase in fuel efficiency figures from 17.38 kmpl for the non-hybrid manual to 19.89 kmpl for the mild-hybrid manual.
Interestingly, this figure is marginally lower than the 20.5 kmpl figure that the Brezza K15C engine used to deliver with the mild-hybrid tech before it was discontinued. The automatic variants, which come with the mild-hybrid tech, offer a mileage of 19.80 kmpl whereas CNG variants of Brezza offer efficiency figures of 25.51 km/kg.
Maruti Brezza specs & features
Other than the addition of the mild-hybrid tech, no other features have been added or deleted from the equipment of Brezza. The 1.5-litre K15C naturally aspirated petrol motor churns out 102 bhp and 134 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Maruti also offers an optional factory-fitted CNG kit in the top-spec Brezza ZXI+ trim which is detuned to produce an output of 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm of torque. The CNG version is only available with the 5-speed manual gearbox.
In terms of features, Brezza offers a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 4-speaker sound system, paddle shifters (AT variants), a single-pane sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, a heads-up display, and a 360-degree camera to name a few. Safety features on board include six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-hold assist, seat belt reminders for all passengers, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
