Mahindra has confirmed the debut of the Thar Roxx on August 15. This new five-door version will be sold alongside the existing three-door model, which was introduced on August 15, 2020. With numerous leaked images, spy shots, and teasers, here is all the information we have about the Thar Roxx to date.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Exteriors
Retaining the iconic Thar’s rugged looks and design, the new five-door version gets a more bold front fascia with a thicker seven-slate grille. Like the current Thar, the new off-roader has indicators on the front end of the wheel arches and foglamps housed in the chunky front bumper.
The Thar Roxx sports all-new LED headlights with C-shaped LED DRLs while the current model has halogen head lamps. From the side profile, apart from the obvious two additional rear doors with the door handles merged in the C-pillar, the new Thar gets twin five-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, the new Thar will get a newly designed LED tail lamp.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Interiors
First and foremost, yes, the Thar Roxx gets a panoramic sunroof, which could be only for the top-end model. The Roxx is now a properly five-seater and comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, front ventilated seats, Type C charging ports and a 360-degree camera. The top variant of the Thar Roxx will come equipped with the premium Harman Kardon music system and smart connected tech, Adrenox.
The Thar Roxx has an array of safety features, including Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) similar to those in the 3X0 and XUV700. These systems encompass adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking for cyclists, pedestrians, and vehicles, forward collision warning, traffic sign recognition, and lane-keeping assistance. Additionally, the Thar Roxx is outfitted with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, and disc brakes on all wheels.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Engine Specifications
The Thar Roxx will be available in three engine choices like the current three-door version. The 1.5-litre diesel will be restricted to the entry-level and rear-wheel-drive variants, while the bigger 2.2-litre diesel powertrain will get a four-wheel drivetrain.
The Thar is also available in petrol and the five-door version will also get the 2-litre motor. As of now, Mahindra hasn’t revealed the power output of the engines and may be tweaked as the five-door version is bigger and heavier than the three-door one.
