Over the past decade, the Indian automobile industry has worked hard to bring advanced safety features and technology to more affordable vehicles. One such feature, Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), which was once exclusive to luxury cars, is now available in sub-4-meter segment vehicles. Last year, the Mahindra 3X0 made a significant leap by introducing radar-based Level 2 ADAS, and now the upcoming Kia Syros will be the second vehicle to offer this cutting-edge safety technology.
Kia Syros: 16 reasons you can’t ignore
The Kia Syros is making waves with its advanced Level 2 ADAS, offering an array of 16 autonomous features, including side parking sensors. One standout feature is the Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, which works across multiple scenarios — car, pedestrian, cycle, junction turning, and even direct oncoming vehicles. The Adaptive Cruise Control intelligently adjusts speed, slowing down when needed and speeding up to the set limit once the road clears. For those long drives, the Driver Attention Warning keeps an eye on driving behaviour, alerting the driver to fatigue or inattention with both a dashboard message and an audible warning.
The Leading Vehicle Departure Alert is perfect for stop-and-go traffic, notifying the driver when the car in front begins to move, prompting them to accelerate. Meanwhile, the Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (RPCA) takes the stress out of parking by warning of potential collisions while reversing and automatically applying the brakes if a crash is imminent. The rest of the features are Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Follow Assist, High Beam Assist, a 360 degree camera and a Blind View Monitor.
Mahindra 3X0: Pioneer in Level 2 ADAS
The Mahindra 3X0 was the first to bring Level 2 ADAS to the compact SUV segment, offering cutting-edge safety tech at an affordable price. Launched just last year, it boasts a comprehensive suite of features, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto Emergency Braking for cyclists, pedestrians, and vehicles, as well as Forward Collision Warning. The system also includes Traffic Sign Collision Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Smart Pilot Assist.
