India’s first Formula one drive Narain Karthikeyan has taken delivery of his new Porsche GT3 at the Porsche centre in Mumbai. Word has it that the racing driver has been eyeing the GT3 for a while now and finally collected the keys to his new 2017 GT3 yesterday. The new GT3 which starts at a base price of Rs 2.3 crore, would have cost Karthikeyan even more considering that his GT3 is far from Factory stock.
Starting with the paint job which is a Guards Red colour and there’s black leatherette in the cabin and Alcantara leather seats. Not surprisingly the speed monger has got his Porsche kitted with the clubsport package which means that the standard seats are replaced with RECARO Sport Buckets. What’s more is that Karthikeyan has also opted for the sport chronograph package which includes the Porsche Track Precision app and lap trigger preparation
The new Porsche 911 GT3 is one of the most track focused cars ever to make it to production. Interestingly, Narain picked the Porsche over the bonkers AMG GT-R and the Audi R8 V10 Plus, both of which retail for about the same price. But it turns out that the speedster is big on the mid-engine rear wheel drive ‘proper’ sportscar formula.
Powering Narains Porsche 911 GT3 is 4-litre six-cylinder boxer engine which has been tuned to pelt out 493 bhp of power and 540 Nm of twist. Transmission wise, you have the option of choosing either the 7-speed PDK automatic transmission or the more exciting 6-speed manual gearbox. It’s still unclear whether Karthikeyan went for the manual or the PDK. All put together the Porsche will hit a top whack of 320 kmph !
