Once a symbol of success in India’s automotive scene, the Honda City, a segment leader since its 1998 debut, has been overshadowed by SUVs, losing its dominance in the sedan category. To revive its appeal, Honda has introduced the sporty variant, the City Sport at Rs 14.89 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi, which is targeting the young car buyers who want their sedan to exuberate their personality.

According to Honda, the new City Sport echoes its tagline ‘Life is a Sport’. The company has said the City Sport will be available as a limited edition. Here’s everything you need to know about the revitalised City Sport, designed to bring fresh excitement to the Honda sedan.

Honda has introduced array of darked out styling elements on the City Sport to make it stand out in the crowd. The front grille goes dark with a black-finish chrome strip above and the LED headlights get a smoky finish. The bumper get all-black air dam with fog lamps.

The side profile reveals 15-inch grey alloy wheels and blacked out ORVMs (outside rearview mirrors) and B-pillars and a glass black shark fin antenna. It sports a black rear spoiler, Sport badge and the LED tail lights black accents. The City Sport is available in three colour options —Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl and Meteoroid Gray Metallic.

The City Sports comes with premium leather black with contrasting red stitch pattern on seats, door inserts and steering wheel. For a more premium feel, Honda has added additional soft touch door inserts.  The dark theme further extends to the black roof lining and pillars.

Honda has spruced up the dashboard with red garnish, glossy black air condition vents and a 7-colour rhythmic ambient light. It continues to come with an 8-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, two USB ports, four speakers and a 4.2-inch TFT meter display.

Honda City Sport: Engine Specifications and Safety

The Sport Edition is powered by the tried-and-tested 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with an output of 119 bhp at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm. It is only available with a CVT automatic transmission and according to Honda, it offers a mileage of 18.4 kmpl. 

The City is the only vehicle in its segment to offer Level 2 ADAS safety suite, which includes features like Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane, Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Lead Car Departure Notification System, Road Departure, Mitigation System and Auto High-Beam. It further comes standard with six airbags, all five headrests, multi angle camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, Hill Start Assist and much more.
