Kia is gearing up to strengthen its presence in the MPV segment with the upcoming update to the Carens and the introduction of the Carens EV. While the exact timeline for both vehicles remains under wraps, they are expected to debut ahead of the festive season later this year. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2025 Carens and its all-electric counterpart.

2025 Kia Carens: What’s new?

The internet has been buzzing with spy shots of the updated Kia Carens internal combustion model, hinting at its much-anticipated midlife refresh. Since its debut in 2022, the Carens has been a popular choice, and this update is expected to bring a refreshed look with updated LED headlights and taillights, a redesigned grille and bumpers, and new alloy wheels.

The 2025 Carens is also set to pack a host of new features, including a larger infotainment system, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, a premium music system, and ambient lighting. There’s speculation about whether it will borrow some features from the upcoming Syros, such as rear-ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof.

Under the hood, the updated Carens will retain its three powertrain options — a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Kia Carens EV: What to Expect?

The upcoming Kia Carens EV will be the second offering in the MPV EV segment, after the MG Windsor EV. It will also be Kia’s most affordable electric vehicle in India. Built on the same platform as the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the Carens, the EV will feature subtle design tweaks to set it apart from its sibling.

While Kia has kept details under wraps, the Carens EV is expected to sport an enclosed front grille along with specially designed alloy wheels optimized for aerodynamics and efficiency. A new badge will likely complete its EV identity.

In terms of performance, the Carens EV could offer an impressive range of over 400 km on a single charge, making it a practical and eco-friendly option for families.
