Citroen to offer 6 airbags as standard in India across entire range

Citroen currently retails four models in the country including ë-C3, C3 Aircross SUV, C3 and C5 Aircross.

With growing consensus towards vehicular safety in India and significant push by the Central Government, auto OEMs are enhancing safety equipment of their models in the recent past. A few months back Hyundai and Kia standardised 6 airbags across their respective product lineup. Now Citroen has joined the list too.

Citroen offering 6 airbags as standard

The French carmaker will now offer six airbags as a standard fitment in all variants across the entire range in India. Besides six airbags, safety features like ISOFIX seat anchorage, and rear seatbelt reminder will also be offered as standard across the entire India lineup. These changes will come into effect from the second half of 2024.

For reference, Citroen currently retails four models in the country including  ë-C3, C3 Aircross SUV, C3 and C5 Aircross. The six-airbag system includes front airbags, side airbags, and curtain airbags, providing comprehensive protection in the event of a collision and is a testimony to the brand’s commitment to ensuring a safe mobility solution for its customers.

Citroen C3 Aircross engine specs

Citroen recently introduced an automatic transmission option for the C3 Aircross. The compact mid-size SUV is powered  by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine which is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Power output is identical at 109 bhp for both versions but torque output stands at 190 Nm and 205 Nm, respectively.
