There are two new vehicles to look out for from the VW group coming our way — the new Skoda Kodiaq and the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line. Both companies have released enough teasers to keep potential customers excited and the former will be launched on April 17, while the Tiguan R Line will be officially launched on April 14.
The Skoda Kodiaq will be sold in India as CKD units while the Tiguan R Line will be sold as CBUs. That said, the two SUVs will be premium offerings and through various teasers, we know that the Kodiaq will be available in two variants: Laurin & Klement (L&K) and Sportline.
2025 Skoda Kodiaq vs Volkswagen Tiguan R Line — Interior and features
Both SUVs will feature all the bells and whistles one would expect from a European vehicle in this class. They will get large TFT infotainment systems with smartphone connectivity, multi-zone climate control, LED headlights, digital instrument clusters, ventilated seats and electrically operated tailgates amongst others.
Safety features will include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and ADAS Level 2. The Skoda Kodiaq has already earned a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, and the Tiguan R Line won’t be far off.
2025 Skoda Kodiaq vs Volkswagen Tiguan R Line — Engine specifications
Both vehicles will be powered by 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines. They are the same powerplants in identical states of tune, mated to a DSG gearbox. Power will be delivered to all four wheels via an all-wheel-drive system for both SUVs.
