Lexus has unveiled the new UX 300h with more power, featuring the fifth-generation hybrid system that now makes 196 horsepower combined. Apart from the updated powertrain, the new UX 300h gets a host of updates and here are more details.
The new compact crossover features the carmaker’s iconic Lexus spindle grille with a block-shaped mesh pattern. The new DRLs placed above the headlight complete the front design. Towards the rear, the design language continues with what Lexus calls the ‘Unique Aero Stabilizing Blade Lights’ that start from the top of the rear fenders and span the rear of the vehicle.
The carmaker says that the design reduces turbulence and lift, thus providing better stability during cornering or crosswinds. Lexus also says that a wing-type spoiler at the rear edge of the roof, along with a flat underbody, contributes to vehicle quietness, fuel efficiency, and aerodynamics.
In terms of colour choices, the Base and Premium exterior colour options include Caviar, Copper Crest, Obsidian, Redline, Nori Green Pearl, Grecian Water, Cloudburst Gray, Iridium and Eminent White Pearl. The F Sport models offer seven colour options paired with an Obsidian roof or a new Obsidian monotone execution. The F Sport colours include Copper Crest, Redline, Cloudburst Gray, Iridium, Ultra White, Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 and Obsidian.
Inside, the new UX 300h gets a new layout for buttons on the door, a larger 12.3-inch multi-information display, a colour head-up display, ADAS, wireless smartphone connectivity, cloud navigation, multiple USB ports, and much more. The interior itself is finished in NuLuxe with a choice of multiple colours.
Now, coming to the fifth-generation hybrid system, the UX 300h gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine mated to two electric motors. A new hybrid transaxle has been adopted, and combined with the battery pack, the powertrain makes 196 horsepower, with a 0 to 100kmph acceleration time of 7.9 seconds (AWD) and 8.0 seconds (FWD).
