The Range Rover Evoque, which made its debut in 2012, might have been ground-breaking in it’s time, but six years has seen its design lose it’s edge. Especially when it’s lined up next to the Velar, the newest baby to the wear the Range Rover tag. Which brings us to the Test mule that MotorOne spotted in testing recently, that appears to be a new Evoque prototype out for cold-weather testing. Although the picture would suggest that the new Evoque is in the final stages of production. Interestingly, Evoque does have styling that is largely comparable to the Velar, including the signature pop-out door handles.
Its likely considering the fact that the prototype is almost production ready, that Land Rover might be looking to debut it at the Paris Motor Show, in October 2018, or in early 2019. The new Range Rover Evoque is likely to be based on the the current evoques D8 platform and architecture, and might get some additional space on the inside as well.
The new Range Rover Evoque from what we can tell from spy shots of the test mule will get a new pair of sleeker LED headlamps like on the Velar. However, the grille and other frontal features are still under wraps considering the camouflage on Land Rover’s test mule. However, the sloping roofline does betray the likelihood of a larger spoiler on the back of the Range Rover.
In terms of motors, the new Range Rover Evoque is likely to carry forward the existing powertrains from JLRs Ingenium family of four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. The power ranging from 150 bhp to about 300 bhp. It is also likely that this Evoque might get a mild hybrid to reinforce one of the petrol motors as well.
