On Tuesday, India Yamaha Motor launched two motorcycles – the XSR155 for Rs 1.49 lakh, and the FZ-Rave for Rs 1.17 lakh, ex-showroom – and also entered electric mobility by unveiling the Aerox-E and the EC-06, whose prices will be announced in early 2026.
On this latest product offensive, Itaru Otani, chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, told FE that India is central to Yamaha’s global growth strategy. “It’s a market where we see immense potential across both premium and electric mobility segments,” he said.
“The introduction of the XSR brand, our new EV models, and the FZ-Rave will strengthen our presence, and the step aligns with India’s evolving mobility landscape. With these launches, we are deepening our connect with the riders who seek performance, design, and technology, while also responding to the nation’s transition towards sustainable transportation.”

The XSR is Yamaha’s modern retro sport brand, and the XSR155 gets the 155-cc engine producing 18.4 PS power and 14.2 Nm torque. The FZ-Rave, on the other hand, is powered by the trusted 149-cc engine (12.4 PS and 13.3 Nm).
Ravinder Singh, senior vice-president, Sales & Marketing, said that both these products will help the automaker strengthen its presence in the premium end of the mass-market segment. “The XSR155 is aimed at young and mature riders who seek a dependable, high-performance, and stylish motorcycle that delivers both excitement and everyday usability,” Singh said. “Its classic round LED headlight and taillight, teardrop fuel tank, and traditional-style LCD display highlight the timeless appeal of Yamaha’s design language.”

On the FZ-Rave, Singh added that it has further strengthened the FZ portfolio. “Developed for India’s young riders, the new FZ-Rave offers a balanced mix of performance, efficiency, and everyday practicality,” he said. “Drawing inspiration from Yamaha’s premium FZ line, the FZ-Rave features a bold full-LED projector headlamp with integrated position light, a sculpted fuel tank, and a compact exhaust, giving it a commanding presence on Indian roads.”
Electric foray

Yamaha’s foray into the electric mobility space marks an important step in its journey towards a more sustainable future. “The Aerox-E is a performance-oriented EV that brings Yamaha’s signature excitement and responsive handling to riders seeking an electric alternative without compromise,” Singh said.
“It has 9.4-kW peak power and 48 Nm of torque for high acceleration, along with dual detachable 3-kWh batteries. It has a certified range of 106 km. The EV also features multiple riding modes such as Eco, Standard, and Power, with the addition of a ‘Boost’ function.”
The EC-06 introduces an all-new design concept created for customers who value smart mobility, comfort, and contemporary design in their everyday rides.

“Developed in India with a global outlook, the EC-06 is powered by a 4.5-kW electric motor generating 6.7 kW peak power, along with 4-kWh high-capacity fixed battery, and has a range of 160 km,” Singh said.
Otani added that the Aerox-E and the EC-06 represent Yamaha’s approach to serving both performance seekers and everyday users, marking the brand’s transition into the next phase of its journey in India with choices that are dynamic, accessible, and sustainable.
