TVS officially has two fully-electric models listed on its website— iQube and X— but we only get to see the former on the roads. Launched in August 2023, the first unit of TVS X is yet to be delivered to the customer. The Hosur-based two-wheeler manufacturer has revealed that deliveries of the sporty electric scooter are expected to commence soon.
In an unofficial interaction with a TVS spokesperson at MotoSoul 2024, it came to light that dispatches for the X will commence in the next couple of days. Deliveries will begin in a phased manner with customers in Bengaluru to be given the first preference. Prices of the scooter will remain unchanged at this point in time.
TVS X deliveries in Bengaluru first
TVS launched the X in a single-fully loaded trim at an introductory price of Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom). At the time of its launch, TVS X was the most expensive electric scooter on sale in India but since August 2023, BMW Motorrad has launched two premium electric scooters in the country: CE 04 and CE 02. The latter is locally assembled in India and believed to share most of its underpinnings with TVS X.
The spokesperson didn’t reveal the exact bookings received for the X, but mentioned that the existing bookings will be given priority and honoured in the next two months. Post Bengaluru, bookings will commence for Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Coimbatore.
Further, at the time of launch first 2,000 units of TVS X will carry a coveted “First Edition” insignia to distinguish themselves from the others. Moreover, the first 2,000 owners will get a Smartwatch and a ‘Curated Concierge’ package free, worth Rs 18,000. As we already know, the design of the X is inspired by the TVS Creon concept showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.
TVS X: Design & Specs
The design of X is bold and dynamic, staying true to the essence of a Maxi-style scooter. It features an aggressive front end with a faired body and sharp, striking visuals, described by TVS as a ‘sculptured’ body form. One of its standout elements is the vertically mounted headlight seamlessly integrated into the front apron.
Enhancing the Maxi-scooter aesthetics, it boasts a large side panel that adds a rugged charm to its overall look. Blue accents scattered across the body subtly highlight its electric identity. Additional notable features include split seats, a rear tyre hugger, and 12-inch blacked-out alloy wheels, all of which enhance its sporty and premium appeal.
TVS X is powered by a 4.44 kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor that delivers a peak output of 15 PS (11 kW) and 40 Nm of torque. This setup enables the scooter to achieve a top speed of 105 kmph and accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.6 seconds. While the company hasn’t disclosed an exact range, it is estimated to cover approximately 130 km on a single charge.
Charging options include a 3 kWh fast charger, which can replenish the battery from 0 to 50 percent in just 1 hour, and a standard 950W portable charger that takes 3 hours and 40 minutes to charge from 0 to 80 percent. The cost of the portable charger is Rs 16,275 (including GST).
